New-build 3-bedroom double-storey detached house

The Brief

Our client owns a detached house on a corner plot with a large garden to the side and wanted to explore the potential of erecting a new detached house on the unused land since they did not require such a large garden.

The Solution

We designed a double-storey 3-bedroom detached house with a large open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. A Planning Application was submitted for the severance of the plot and erection of a new detached dwellinghouse.
While planning issues of over-looking and over-bearing arose, these were overcome by reducing the height of the house so it was slightly lower than the existing house, and planting of mature trees along the boundary.

Achievements

The end product was a successfully completed house which harmonises with the street scene. Whilst the house has the capacity to accommodate a lift and be altered/adapted to suit occupants at all stages of their life in accordance with Lifetime Homes Standards.
